Games are for the Players
This is an important idea that supports the FRFL’s motto - “Just Let the Kids Play”.
Front Range Futsal League officials, field marshals and referees will work vigorously to maintain a “positive culture for youth sports“ before, during and after League and Tournament games. They also have full authority to remove from the fields any person whose words or actions are at odds with maintaining a “Kid Friendly” environment
Coaches must remain seated on their team’s sideline during games (a rule widely found in youth basketball leagues.) Please bring a chair or a bench.
We are also asking coaches to “train and trust”, thereby limiting the amount of coaching they do from the sideline. In one of the better examples of coaching jargon, this is called “giving the players permission to play”. They must take responsibility. They must make decisions. They must communicate with each other about what’s happening on the field. The soccer and personal advantages to having players who can do these things are huge.
Only players, coaches, scorekeepers and officials will be allowed on the playing surfaces at the Golden Goal Sports Complex. The spectator areas for games will be at the ends of the Futsal fields, off the artificial surface. We also ask that spectators honor, by their words and actions, the following elements of the “PCA Parent Pledge”:
I pledge to “Honor the Game”. I understand the importance of setting a good example for my child. No matter what others may do, I will show respect for all involved in the game including coaches, players, opponents, opposing fans, and officials. I understand that officials make mistakes. If the official makes a "bad" call against my team, I will Honor the Game and be silent!
I pledge to refrain from yelling out instructions to my child. I understand that this is the coach's job. I understand that games are chaotic times for children trying to deal with fast-paced action and respond to opponents, teammates and coaches. I will limit my comments during the game to encouraging my child and other players for both teams.
First and Last Games of the Day
Teams playing in the first and last games of the day are asked to help with field set-up and take down. This little bit of collective effort will help to maintain our League and Tournament fees at levels affordable to all.
Before the first games, goals may have to be moved onto the field as will the Scorekeepers’ tables and chairs. After the final games of the day, teams are asked to help break things down and police the field area of any trash.
The field marshals will help to direct these activities.
Food and Drink
Please keep all food and drink, water and sports drinks excepted, off of the playing surfaces at the Golden Goal Sports Complex. Have those birthday cupcakes somewhere off the field after the game!
Scorekeepers
Each team shall provide a Scorekeeper for every League or Tournament game. For U15 and younger games, the Scorekeeper must be at least 21 years of age. For U16 and above, the Scorekeeper must be at least old enough to fall into that age group.
Those who serve as Scorekeepers would be advised to make themselves familiar with the “Modified Laws of the Game” used by the Front Range Futsal League, particularly Law XII: Fouls and Misconduct and Law XIV: Accumulated Fouls.
DUTIES:
> Prior to the game, get a copy of the Competition Roster from the opposing team and match the players present to that roster. (The Main Referee will do a safety check of player’s equipment.)
> Keep a record on the Game Record Card of the first 5 fouls as registered by the Main Referee for each team per half. (Game record cards will be at the Scorekeepers’ table.
> At game’s end, verify the game result, secure the signature of the referee on the Game Record Card and sign the Game Record Card.
> Deliver the Game Record Card and Competition Rosters to one of the field marshals.
The Horn
A horn will be used to indicate the time by which a game is to be under way. It shall also be used to indicate a final ending time for games; play stops at this horn unless the referee has extended time to complete a Penalty Kick or a kick from the second penalty spot.
