A “Tournament of Champions” in early spring will give winners and runners-up of the winter’s competitions in selected age groups the opportunity to gain a place in the U.S. Futsal National Championships in July of 2006.
Tournament Basics
All Tournaments will be a five game minimum, with all preliminary games in an age group played on one day. Games will consist of two 20-minute halves per game, with teams switching ends at halftime. Competition rosters for tournaments are frozen at the time of tournament check-in and are limited to 12 players.
Age Groups
Play in FRFL tournaments will be for teams in the U9-U19 age groups, with separate divisions for boys and girls. Age groups may be combined for competitions (e.g. U9/10, U11/12), depending on the number of teams participating. The Tournament will have separate divisions for recreational and advanced (“competitive”) teams, and will sort the advanced teams into Gold and Silver divisions whenever possible. Under-10 teams may not participate in the advanced team divisions of the tournament.
The “High School Shootout” will have Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions, boys, girls and co-ed.
